For the Love of the Children
NAMI Northern Illinois is proud to announce that the Catholic Women’s League has gifted us a $2,000 grant donation for the upkeep of our NAMI Basics course which offers parents and caregivers to help identify coping skills with childhood mental illness. The donation is also directed at the start up of a new NAMI program called Ending the Silence. This new program involves going into all of the middle schools and high schools in our community and speaking with students about mental illness and teaching individuals that it is OKAY to talk about your mental health! Through the direction of peer presenters, students will gain knowledge of:
- Early warning signs
- Facts and statistics about youth and mental health conditions
- When, where and how to get help for themselves or their friends
- When it’s not okay to keep a secret

Once again, thank you Catholic Women’s League for your continued generosity and support of NAMI Northern Illinois. We appreciate all that you do for us. You are a wonderful child AND mental health advocate! The kids are our future. What a perfect age group to encourage proper mental health care in.
