Find Help, Find Hope!

Stars of Light – Theatre Troupe

The Stars of Light traveling theater troupe began in 1995 at Janet Wattles Center and continues to this day under the sponsorship of  (National Alliance on Mental Illness) NAMI Northern Illinois with dramatic, high-impact presentations about the true nature of mental illnesses. The performers challenge the audience’s incorrect assumptions with humor and help them begin to recognize the value and worth of this often-overlooked segment of society.

Under the direction of Stephen F. Vrtol III and producer Mary Gubbe Lee, performers include people with mental illnesses, staff members, local youth, and other community members that volunteer many hours to help make the Stars’ performances polished and professional, entertaining, and informative. Their performances help audiences learn about mental illnesses and help eliminate the stigma associated with the illness and those who live with them.

The Stars of Light Theatre troupe travels upon request to schools, churches, clubs and organizations.  Presentations can be tailored to your specifics and to your time constraints.   Please fill out the attached form to request a presentation.
