Find Help, Find Hope!

Volunteer Opportunities

Annual Events: Help create, plan, organize, and solicit major fundraising events such as Mulligans for Mental Illness.
Bring your creativity and your thinking cap along for the ride!

*Educational Teachers (Peers): Graduates of NAMI Family-to-Family and NAMI Basics are eligible for training to teach these classes.
All training is paid for by NAMI Northern Illinois. Sign up to give back to your community.

Ending the Silence: Youth presenters (18-30) willing to be trained and tell their stories to middle and high schoolers in our area!

Fundraising: Assist in creative ways to raise money to support NAMI’s established programs and activities. Committee meets monthly.

In Our Own Voice: NAMI In Our Own Voice (IOOV) is a unique public education presentation that unmasks mental illness, using speaker stories to illustrate the individual realities of living with mental illness.
This is a peer-led project and training is required.

Legislation: Raise awareness of potential legislation (or other governmental action) which would benefit from NAMI  involvement.
Effort should be focused on worthwhile issues and directing members to find the appropriate legislator.

Monthly Educational Programs: Help with set up, clean up, and bringing refreshments!
Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Stepping Stones of Rockford, Inc. (706 North Main Street. Rockford, IL 61103).

Outreach: Join our growing committee.  There are many ways to help with this team through the many ways we distribute resources and information to the community.
Be a part of our presentation traveling team, speak out about NAMI at health fairs, get your foot in the door at your local provider’s office, distribute materials or assist in planning an awareness event.

*Support Group Facilitators (Peers): Are you a family member of someone with a mental illness, or a peer who is interested in leading a support group?  Free training is provided.

*Teachers and support facilitators should be involved in support groups and very helpful to have taken on of our signature courses.
